PROVIDER PALS® BENEFIT CONCERT!
As you may know, Provider Pals® is a 501c (3) non-profit education
program with a very simple mission: Build a bridge of understanding between
our nation’s youth and the cultures of our rural resource providers.
Provider Pals® started right here in northwest Montana and has grown
from a small program into an international, Presidential Preserve America
Award winning program that reaches over 10,000 students yearly in over
300 classrooms in over 30 cities and towns such as New York City, Los Angeles,
St. Louis and Little Rock. Since the first Wall Street Journal article
applauded the program as ‘the most exciting education initiative
in decades’ Provider Pals® has enjoyed extensive and positive
reviews in the local, regional and national press.
Since 2002, over 4,000 students in Libby, Troy and Eureka
have enjoyed the program in their classroom. In addition, over 300
local students have attended camps at our Preserve America Presidential
Award winning Historic Raven summer camp and nearly 100 students and teachers
have visited New York City and Washington, DC as rural ambassadors – all
free of charge. However, since Provider Pals® does not accept
federal funding – everything raised has to be from the private sector.
Since 2002, Provider Pals has spent over $3,000,000 locally since it formed,
and has never had to raise money from local individuals or businesses. Ford
Motor Company and Caterpillar and others have paid the way for our local
student’s involvement. Lincoln County Commissioners have granted
money to restore summer camp buildings at Historic Raven. Thankfully,
Revett Mining contributed $25,000 in 2007 to assist Lincoln and Sanders
County student involvement and we have added Thompson Falls, Plains and
Noxon to our network of schools. Eureka’s InterBel Telephone
Coop. also donated $1,500 for this past year’s Lincoln County student’s
participation and the Northwest RC&D generously sponsored a temporary
position to assist in our local programmatic efforts. But this year,
Ford Motor Company reached the end of their commitment, so the program
needs to replace their funding or else they won’t be able to operate
at the current level of programming. For the first
time in 6 years, Provider Pals asks that you consider supporting the program
for our local students.
Provider Pals® is thoroughly involved in the 50th Anniversary Celebration
of Logger Days and will be holding a benefit concert with country singer Patricia
Ryan. You may have seen her music video or
listened to her
at various NFR and PBR events! You can support the concert by donation
and/or by purchasing tickets and attending. All proceeds will go towards
Lincoln and Sanders County students’ participation scholarships.
In November of 2007, Provider Pals® unveiled Provider World,
a unique educational interactive gaming site where students can learn about
our cultures, our industries and career opportunities while having fun
on-line. For $50 each, you can sponsor a local student or students
for a year of learning in this safe, moderated environment.
Any level of support will be greatly appreciated. Remember, your
donation to Provider Pals® is a charitable gift and is fully tax deductible. Please
consider supporting this local, Presidential Award Winning education
program.
